About

What We Do

Manual AI Club aims to bring a complex and vast topic of machine learning to high school students. We plan to teach a variety of topics, including Linear and Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machines, Artificial Neural Networks, Convolutional Neural Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks, and more. Coding may not be the core topic, but students will be taught the basics of GNU Octave and Python. Send us an email at team@manualaiclub.com

Why Machine Learning club?

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. Machine Learning is the topic under AI to help machines learn intelligence. Machine Learning is interdisciplinary, from basic predictions of social behavior to diagnosis and treatment using computational biology - application of ML is everywhere. The future belongs to Artificial Intelligence and the job market growth in AI is twice as fast as any other area. The current demand for experts in ML is far outpacing the supply of such skills in the market. The top high schools in the country such as Thomas Jefferson and The Bronx High school have Machine Learning clubs run by students. It’s most appropriate and high time that duPont Manual starts a club to bring more like-minded students into this interdisciplinary club.

Resources

  1. Students will be given resources available on the web and the lectures of the classes will be recorded and put on YouTube for reference.

  2. Senior Data Scientist from the industry will serve as advisor and mentor to the club.

  3. Professionals from industry and universities will be invited to present.

Competitions and Challenges

We intend to give the members weekly challenges based on the topics discussed. In addition, the club intends to compete in challenges like Kaggle competitions, Google AI Challenge, and other club challenges.
